Governor's Institute for World Language Educators

The Institute features small classes such as technology, art and music integration, immersion activities, and a fieldtrip to New York City. With respect to classes, the days are devoted to standards and their implication for teaching. A second day explores teaching reading in a second language. National and international leaders in research, teaching, and policy and publication gave the classes. These leaders were June Phillips, Frank Medley, Susan Bacon, Richard Korb, and Elizabeth Bernhardt. A third day is devoted to a festival of practices given by respected teachers from Pennsylvania school districts and members of the NEIU Curriculum and Instruction Department
